The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has banned armed guards from accessing the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
A directive from the government dated January 4, 2021 ordered persons who use the services of armed guards to heed to this warning.
Starting today, only a select group of leaders would be allowed to access the international airport with their armed guards.
This category includes the President of Somalia, Prime Minister, Leader of the Upper House (Senate), and the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House).
According to the government’s directive, this move is one more step required to improve security within the airport.
