President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud led his government in banning all kinds of trading in arms and ammunition by non-state actors in Somalia.
The President announced this after chairing an extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) at Villa Somalia.
During Thursday’s meeting, members of the NSC agreed to impose a total ban on the trade, smuggling, and any other business related to weapons and ammunitions by non-state actors.
A statement from the President’s office clarified that this decision aligns with existing legal frameworks.
