ASWJ Accuses Galmudug Authorities of Inciting Central Somalia Conflict

The leadership of the Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa (ASWJ) has accused authorities in Galmudug of fanning the recent conflict in central Somalia.

Sheikh Mohamed Shakir Ali Hassan, the ASWJ leader, issued a statement on the situation during an interview with BBC Somalia Service on October 2.

In his interview, Sheikh Hassan said that the Galmudug authorities put too much focus on fighting ASWJ instead of combating Al-Shabaab.

Fighting broke out in the central Somalia’s Bohol area on Thursday, September 30.

More than 10 people lost their lives in the clashes.

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) had to deploy Somali National Army (SNA) to the region to help regional forces fight ASWJ fighters.
