The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) joined hands with the Somali National Army (SNA) on Wednesday to reinforce the banks of the Shabelle River.
ATMIS’ Burundi National Defense Forces (BNDF) contingent teamed up with the SNA troops to reinforce the river banks.
They took this measure as a way of ensuring that the river does not burst its banks thereby causing yet another flood in the surrounding regions.
They used sandbags to do this as part of the emergency response to the ongoing El Nino rains that continue causing havoc all over Somalia.
