ATMIS and Somali Police Officers Conclude Training on Improved Relations with Civilians

Officers from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) have completed training on improving relations with civilians.

Twenty-eight officers from both organizations completed the training on Saturday, May 28.

ATMIS establishes formal relations with civilians through Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC).

CIMIC also helps to establish similar relations with local authorities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international organizations.

ATMIS CIMIC Cell organized the training for its personnel and the SNAF officers.

Col. Hans Nyange commended the 28 officers for undertaking the training successfully.

He also urged them to apply the knowledge they gained to improve relations between the military and members of the public.

Nyange is ATMIS Chief Military Information Officer.

He also serves as the Acting Chief of Staff.
