The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) awarded its officers from the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) this week.
Brigadier Lukas Kutto, the ATMIS Sector Six Commander, was the chief guest at the award ceremony at the forward operating base (FOB) in New Airport, Kismayo.
The KDF troops were awarded after completing their one-year tour of duty.
They received certificates and medals for the incredible contribution they made to making the region more peaceful and secure for all.
Brig. Kutto commended them for their dedication.
On his part, Lt. Col. Eric Lovega expressed gratitude to the officers from Kenya for the mentorship and support that they provided in Somalia.
Lt. Col. Lovega is the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion.
