The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has condemned the terror attack that took place in Mogadishu from Friday to Saturday.
ATMIS issued a press release on August 20 condemning the deadly attack, which has so far killed 20 people, in the strongest possible terms.
Al-Shabaab militants attacked Hayat Hotel on the evening of August 19.
They would then proceed to hold a number of hostages in the hotel for more than 24 hours while killing several innocent civilians.
Authorities stated that most of the people killed in the incident were civilians.
In its statement, ATMIS expressed solidarity with the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Furthermore, it vowed to continue working closely with the government in the fight against terrorism in the country.
ATMIS sent heartfelt condolences to the bereaved while wishing the injured a quick recovery.
