African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) forces raised anti-flooding barriers in Xaawadley on Saturday.
The Burundian ATMIS contingent raised the barriers along River Shabelle.
River Shabelle has raised its levels in the last few days and weeks as the region experiences increased rainfall.
They put up sandbags along the river to act as barriers thereby preventing floods from ravaging the region.
The sandbags would divert the rising waters while reinforcing the riverbank against erosion.
