Officers from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) visited a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Barawe.
The ATMIS troops were from the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) contingent.
They were under the leadership of Col. Michael Walaka, who is the commander of the UPDF Battle Group XLI, during the Friday excursion.
The camp they visited is home to over 400 IDPs.
Col. Walaka encouraged the IDPs to visit the nearby health facility manned by UPDF personnel.
