The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting the Somali Police Force (SPF).
ATMIS Police Commissioner Hillary Sao Kanu offered this reassurance on Friday during his meeting with Brig. Gen. Mohamed Mohamud Mohamed Garar.
Brig. Gen. Garar is the SPF’s new Director of Operations.
Kanu assured Garar that ATMIS would not stop supporting all SPF activities.
On his part, Brig. Gen. Garar thanked ATMIS for the pivotal role it plays in the stabilization of the East African nation.
He called upon ATMIS to support Somalia’s need for the continued training, mentoring, and equipping of its police force.
Garar added that he would work to enhance cooperation between SPF and the ATMIS Formed Police Units (FPUs) for the benefit of everyone in Somalia.
