ATMIS Soldiers Urged to Take Personal Responsibility on World AIDS Day

African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) officers must take personal responsibility to combat HIV and AIDS.

Col. Joel Maiyo encouraged them to do this on Friday, December 1 as the ATMIS officers joined the rest of the world in celebrating World AIDS Day.

Col. Maiyo is the Deputy Contingent Commander.

He led the other ATMIS personnel in celebrating global AIDS day at Dhobley.

The ATMIS officers who were celebrating AIDS day at Dhobley were from Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).

He encouraged the other officers serving under ATMIS not to discriminate against those living with the disease in Somalia or back at home.
