The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has spoken out on the death of a civilian who was run over by its convoy outside Mogadishu.
The civilian was run over while crossing the road in between two ATMIS armored vehicles.
The man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was then rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, he lost his life while on the treatment table.
On Thursday, ATMIS issued a statement on the incident that took place at Elasha-Biyaha on the outskirts of Mogadishu on November 30.
The organization expressed heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family.
It announced the setting up of a team to conduct preliminary investigations on the matter, which almost brought Elasha-Biyaha to a standstill on Wednesday.
ATMIS promised to work closely with the Somali government, eyewitnesses, and local authorities to get to the bottom of the sad incident.
