The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) plans to increase collaboration with Kismayo General Hospital on dental and orthopaedic surgery.
ATMIS revealed this on when some of its senior health experts visited the Kismayo hospital this week.
Those who visited the Kismayo facility were from ATMIS Level 1 Plus Hospital.
They included Maj. P. J. Yide, who led the delegation from the ATMIS Level 1 Plus Hospital.
Others who accompanied him during the visit included Maj. (Dr.) T. O. Odero and Capt. (Dr.) H. O. Kimaiga.
The ATMIS team held talks with the medics in charge of Kismayo General Hospital including Dr. Abdullahi Gurey, the Chief Surgeon.
They agreed on the need for improved access to quality healthcare at the facility.
