The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) will have 14,626 uniformed personnel in the country from next year.
ATMIS announced this on Tuesday.
The organisation stated that the new numbers are in conformity with the recent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2710 of 2023.
In UNSCR2710 of 2023, ATMIS is also expected to deploy 1,040 police personnel as from January 1, 2024.
The two numbers reflect the new military and police strength ATMIS is authorized to operate in Somalia from early next year.
