The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) transferred several operational equipment in Kismayo to the Somali National Army (SNA).
Brigadier General Lucas Kutto oversaw the transfer in a ceremony held in the Jubbaland capital on Saturday.
The equipment transferred to SNA includes vehicles and mine detection tools.
The mine detection tools had been donated to ATMIS by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
Brig. Gen. Kutto confirmed that the transfer helps SNA to prepare for the upcoming ATMIS withdrawal.
He added that the new equipment would enable SNA to improve their ability to fight against terrorism in the country more effectively.
