ATMIS Troops from Ethiopia Upgrading Bardhere Airport in Gedo

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) from Ethiopia are actively involved in upgrading the Bardhere Airport in Gedo, Jubbaland.

The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) 46th Motorized Battalion is involved in the project through a Quick Impact Project (QIP).

Some of the works they will do include renovating and extending the runway by 400 meters, a task aimed at enhancing safety and enabling the airport to accommodate larger aircraft.

This development coincides with Ethiopian troops taking control of all airfields in the Gedo region, intensifying ongoing tensions with Somalia.

The growing friction between the two nations, particularly regarding the Gedo region, has raised concerns about regional stability and the potential for further conflict.
