AU Chairperson Urges Somalia Not to Harass Kenya

Moussa Faki, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), has urged Somalia not to “harass” Kenya.

Faki issued a statement during the ongoing Extra Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

In his tough-worded statement, Faki said that tolerance is highly needed to prevent the differences between Kenya and Somalia from worsening.

He cited the presence of Kenya Defense Force (KDF) as proof that the two East African neighbors need each other.

Furthermore, Faki reminded Somalia that Kenya hosts thousands of its refugees.

Faki urged both parties to engage in dialogue to ensure that the region does not suffer instability and insecurity, especially when militia groups take advantage of the situation.
