Brussels, Belgium — The third African Union-European Union ministerial meeting concluded this week with a renewed commitment to strengthening cooperation in peace, security, and governance, in line with the Joint Vision for 2030.
Held on May 21, 2025, the high-level gathering brought together ministers from both continents to assess progress and reinforce their strategic partnership.
A joint statement emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration, particularly in conflict prevention and governance reforms.
Ministers reaffirmed their strong support for Somalia’s ongoing security transition and praised the EU’s longstanding backing of successive African Union missions in the country.
They called for adequate, predictable, and sustainable international support for the newly established AU Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), underscoring its critical role in maintaining stability.
