The African Union (AU) has reiterated its commitment to Somalia despite last weekend’s shocking murder of five foreign soldiers in Mogadishu.
Five foreign soldiers were shot and killed during training at a military base in the nation’s capital.
Four of those killed were from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) while the fifth one was from Bahrain.
They were shot and killed in an incident for which Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility.
On Monday, the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) issued a statement condemning the terror attack that shook Somalia on Saturday.
The statement was signed by Souef Mohamed El-Amine, in his capacity as the Head of ATMIS and the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission (SRSC).
He reassured Somalia that ATMIS would not cease supporting its counterterrorism operations around the country.
