Ambassador Francisco Madeira, the AU Special Representative to Somalia has sent messages of goodwill to Somalis as Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Fitr.
In a statement issued today, Ambassador Madeira said, “I congratulate Muslims in Somalia for completing the Holy Month of Ramadan.”
“Consequently, I send my best regards to the Federal Government of Somalia and the wonderful people of this country,” Ambassador Madeira’s message continued.
He said that Ramadan is a time for “reflecting on Islamic teachings” and “reinforcing the virtues of self-sacrifice, forgiveness, and sharing.”
Madeira reminded the people of Somalia to continue observing the measures instituted by the government and the World Health Organization to curb the spread of COVID-19.
