African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops fired mortar shells at a village in Lower Shabelle killing two children.
Residents confirmed the incident to the media.
According to the residents, the two children were killed in the incident that took place on the night of February 6.
Reportedly, the incident occurred in Mushaani village, which is not far from Janaale.
For years, Al-Shabaab militants used Janale as one of their local bastions.
AMISOM forces were in the region conducting an operation, which caused the deaths of the two children while injuring three others.
The children’s mother was one of the people injured in the Saturday night incident.
