AUC Chairperson Commends TCCs for Ongoing Support for AUSSOM

During his recent visit to Somalia, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, engaged with diplomats, representatives from international organizations, and Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) to discuss security matters and the operations of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). He expressed gratitude for their ongoing support, emphasizing its significance in achieving the African Union’s goals and advancing Agenda 2063 for a peaceful and prosperous Africa.

AUSSOM, which commenced operations in January 2025, succeeded the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). The mission aims to support Somalia’s stabilization efforts and post-conflict recovery, with a focus on empowering Somali Security Forces to assume full responsibility for the country’s security. The AUC Chairperson commended the commitment of international partners and TCCs in this endeavor, highlighting their crucial role in enhancing Somalia’s security landscape. The two-day visit by Youssouf underscores the AU’s dedication to collaborative efforts in promoting peace, security, and development in Somalia, aligning with the broader objectives of Agenda 2063.
