AUC Chairperson Hails Agreement between Somalia and Ethiopia

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Moussa Faki Mahamat, has welcomed the agreement signed between Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

President Mohamud and Prime Minister Ahmed signed the agreement in Ankara on Wednesday evening.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the chief mediator in the third round of talks between the two neighboring Horn of Africa nations.

The agreement focuses on strengthening bilateral relations, regional security, and economic collaboration between the two nations.

The AU Chairperson praised the leaders for their commitment to dialogue and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of such partnerships for advancing peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
