Aviation Ministry to Lift Somalia’s Ban on Domestic Flights Next Week

Somalia’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation has promised to lift the ban on domestic flights next week.

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) had banned domestic and international flights as one of the measures for curbing spread of COVID-19.

An agreement reached on Thursday between the transport ministry and aviation companies in the country made the lifting of the ban possible.

Mohamed Omar, the Minister of Transport and Aviation, made this announcement after meeting with representatives of airlines operating domestic flights in the country.

The ban has been in place since mid-April 2020 just after the country started reporting more COVID-19 cases.
