Daud Aweis is in Rwanda to represent Somalia at a global summit organized by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
Aweis is at the global summit in his capacity as Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism.
Rwanda was selected to host the 2023 summit, which runs from November 1-3 in Kigali.
When addressing the summit, Aweis mentioned the “remarkable progress” that Somalia has made in eradicating Al-Shabaab from much of the country.
He mentioned the achievements of the government in stabilizing the country too.
“We look forward to exciting times in Somalia as all stakeholders work toward reviving the tourism sector in the country,” he said in his speech.
