Daud Aweis, the federal Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, has spoken out against misinformation and fake news in Somalia.
Aweis called for countrywide unity while addressing a 2-day forum in Mogadishu.
The forum took place to help participants discuss the impact of misinformation in Somalia.
The information minister said that misinformation and fake news have a detrimental effect on the security and stability of the country.
He added that Somalia’s recovery hinges on its ability to tackle misinformation and fake news.
Aweis urged all stakeholders to take the measures necessary to protect national integrity and stability.
