Bakool region has run out of local Somali currency.
According to local traders, the region has run out of Somali Shilling.
Instead, they say that the situation has forced them to trade using US Dollars (US$). Other traders have taken to Kenyan and Ethiopian currencies.
The situation is dire in Bakool, which is in the regional state of Southwest.
A similar trend is taking place in Gedo regions too.
Many traders say that the few Somali Shillings available are not only worn out but also quite unusable.
