Residents of Beledweyne received a donation of foodstuff from Djibouti troops who are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
The donation was distributed to local residents who were displaced by the recent flooding in the region following heavy downpours.
Heavy rainfall forced River Shabelle’s banks to burst open, which displaced many residents who were forced to relocate to higher safer ground.
Since then, the residents have faced unimaginable suffering that has been exacerbated by COVID-19, which has brought businesses to a standstill all over the country.
However, President Mohamed Abdi Ware of the HirShabelle State received the food donation from Djibouti troops yesterday to reduce some of the suffering.
While receiving the donation, President Ware expressed his gratitude and that of the residents of Beledweyne to the government of Djibouti for the humanitarian assistance.
