Students in the Benadir region have sat for their 8th-grade exams.
Reports indicate that 27,299 students sat for the exams on Monday, June 13.
Omar Filish, the Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of the Benadir Region, visited a few of the schools to witness the first day of the exams.
Mayor Filish wished all the students success in their exams.
He was in the company of several senior education officials, including a few members of his administration.
