Berbera Port Receives Eight New Gantry Cranes

Said Hassan, the General Manager of Berbera Port, confirmed that the facility received eight new gantry cranes.

He said that the cranes arrived at Berbera Port on January 5, 2021.

The management of the port ordered the new equipment in 2019.

According to the General Manager, Berbera Port would be receiving three new STS Gantry Cranes within the next few days.

The cranes make operations at the port more efficient.

They are capable of handling six containers and a truck lane wide load.

Other than that, the new Gantry Cranes are now capable of stacking containers that are over 5ft in height.

Berbera Port is currently under the management of Dubai Ports World (DPW) following an agreement signed with the government of Somaliland.
