President Joe Biden has received reports urging him to redeploy United States commandos to Somalia.
Pentagon has written to President Biden urging him to reverse the order by his immediate predecessor – President Donald Trump – pulling US troops out of Somalia.
In the view of senior Pentagon officials, Al-Shabaab militants continue to increase their activities in Somalia.
The Pentagon leaders now want Biden to issue a fresh order redeploying US military personnel to Somalia.
Specifically, they want the President to send Marine Raiders, Navy SEALs, and Army Green Berets back in Somalia.
Following Trump’s orders, the US had redeployed its personnel from Somalia to Djibouti and Kenya.
