Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi Abdi held a meeting with one of the country’s main opposition leaders on March 1.
Reports revealed that the meeting between two of the leading men in Somaliland took place in Hargeisa.
Bihi met with Abdirahman Abdillahi Irro, the leader of the opposition Wadani Party.
During the meeting, which took place at the Presidential Palace, Bihi and Irro discussed several issues pertaining to Somaliland.
Tuesday’s meeting was the second between President Bihi and Irro in the last few weeks.
The meeting comes in the wake of the recent announcement that the government plans to register new political parties ahead of the November 2022 elections.
Existing opposition parties have not taken kindly to this news.
