President Muse Bihi Abdi has congratulated the 78-year old Radio Hargeisa during World Radio Day.
A communiqué from the Office of the Presidency hailed the contribution made by the management and staff of Radio Hargeisa over the years.
In the communiqué, President Bihi described Radio Hargeisa as the “Voice of the Republic of Somaliland.”
Radio Hargeisa has been in operation since 1944 when it was established under the British Military Administration.
It is arguably Somaliland’s oldest radio station and media outlet.
Several top journalists, editors, and presenters have worked under Radio Hargeisa.
The Office of the Presidency communiqué hailed Radio Hargeisa for having “educated, entertained, and informed” the people of Somaliland over the decades.
The World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13 every year.
