The government of President Muse Bihi Abdi has banned all meetings and workshops by United Nations’ agencies in Somaliland.
A press statement from the Ministry of Planning and National Development dated October 25, 2020 declared all such meetings “suspended until further notice.”
As per the planning ministry letter, the ban starts with immediate effect.
Moreover, in the letter, Bihi’s government clarified that the ban affects all “UN country programs and work plans.”
Consequently, all events and activities related to the above remain banned with effect from October 25.
No reasons were given for the ban, though.
