Traditional elders in Bosaso have urged Brigadier General Mohamud Osman Diyano to keep his job.
Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni had sacked Brig. Gen. Diyano towards the end of 2021.
The dismissal of the Puntland Security Forces (PSF) chief caused deadly clashes in Bosaso.
Traditional elders then kicked off their mediation efforts.
On January 11, the elders determined that the best solution to the recent clashes is for Brig. Gen. Diyano to continue serving as the PSF Commander.
Additionally, the elders also called for reconciliation between PSF and President Deni.
They called for the invalidation of the DP World port concession agreement too.
