Brigadier Seif Salim Rashid has taken over command of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) contingent from Kenya.
Brig. Rashid assumed control of the forces from Brig. William Kamoiro earlier today.
Kenya has a sizeable number of soldiers serving as part of the ATMIS force in the neighboring nation of Somalia.
