British Ambassador to Somalia Calls for a Crisis Meeting amid Galmudug Backlash

Kate Foster, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Somalia, called for a crisis meeting in response to backlash from Galmudug over bias against the local community.

Last week, Ambassador Foster ordered the cancellation of a road project in Galmudug.

Her decision drew the ire of local residents and leaders who accused her of favoring other regions at the expense of Galmudug.

Over the weekend, Ambassador Foster called her team into a crisis meeting.

Sources close to her office indicated that she led her team into drafting a strategy for responding to the claims from the Galmudug community.

The same sources intimidated that her office would assure Galmugud residents that the project had to be postponed because of the impending expiry of the current Somali Stability Fund (SSF) phase.
