Burundian troops have been commended for the role they played in improving security in Somalia.
The Burundian troops, who serve as part of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), received their praises on July 1 from Souef El-Amine.
El-Amine is the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission (SRCC) and the Head of ATMIS.
He joined the Burundian troops in celebrating their country’s 61 years of independence.
El-Amine was with Kiki Gbeho, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Somalia.
They commended Burundi’s sterling role in improving security, peace, and stability in Somalia.
