Case against Government Officials Accused of Embezzlement Kicks off in Mogadishu

A Mogadishu court has started hearing a case against public servants who are accused of embezzlement and a whole raft of other charges.

The court started with four government officials.

On Thursday morning, the four appeared before the Benadir Regional Court to answer charges of graft and embezzlement of public funds.

The Office of the Attorney General filed the charges against them.

Those in court today morning were Adan Mohamed Abdi, Sabir Hassan Abdinur, Umar Maallin Noor, and Abdullahi Mohamed Osoble.

They all work in different capacities at the Department of Immigration and Naturalization.

Abdi is the Head of Visa Issuance while Osoble is the Director of Immigration.

Noor serves as the Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs whereas Abdinur has been the Head of Visa Extension and Verification of the department’s Foreign Division.
