Ceasefire Announced in Bosaso

Authorities have announced a ceasefire in Bosaso.

The ceasefire announcement followed two days of clashes that caused the deaths of more than 10 people.

Puntland’s commercial town of Bosaso has been the scene of intense fighting pitting two security forces.

According to sources, the fighting was between the regular security forces of Puntland and Puntland Security Forces (PSF).

The anti-terrorism PSF unit is a highly trained force.

At least 14 people have lost their lives in the clashes that kicked off on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Abdisamad Mohamed Galan, the regional Minister of Security, announced the ceasefire.

He announced the ceasefire after the intervention of traditional elders, business leaders, and scholars in the region.

Reports of impending clashes have been rife since regional President Said Abdullahi Deni sacked Mohamoud Osman Dinayo, the Commander of the PSF unit.

Deni sacked Dinayo on November 24, 2021.
