The Chairman of the Somaliland Electoral Commission (SEC) has resigned only a few months to the country’s elections.
News regarding Abdirashid Mohamud Riyoraac’s resignation broke out on Wednesday, June 1.
Riyoraac resigned despite the breakaway nation planning to hold general elections on November 13, 2022.
Sources indicate that his resignation is the result of wrangles between members of the electoral commission.
While announcing his resignation, Riyoraac refuted reports that President Muse Bihi Abdi had interfered with the smooth running of operations at the electoral commission.
