Organizations fighting for the rights of children in Somalia have urged for increased protection of children in the country, especially in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organizations that include Plan International, SOS Children’s Villages, and Save the Children, said COVID-19 has led to more suffering among children in the country.
Admittedly, the three agencies appreciate that the novel Coronavirus is more than a health crisis.
However, they acknowledge that it receives more attention to the detriment of children’s issues; hence, the need for increased protection.
The three agencies listed the most vulnerable groups as children with disabilities, young girls, and those lacking parental care and guidance.
