The Chinese government has called upon the rest of the world to respect Somalia’s sovereignty.
On Thursday, a spokesperson of the nation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that China supports Somalia’s quest for national unity and sovereignty.
China had yet to issue any statement on the emerging diplomatic row between Somalia and Ethiopia.
Last week, Ethiopia signed a deal with Somaliland to recognize the latter’s independence.
However, Somalia has rejected and nullified the deal between Ethiopia and Somaliland.
Several of Somalia’s international partners have also raised their voices on the deal. Specifically, they have asked Ethiopia to respect Somalia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
