China has donated tons of COVID-19 vaccines to Somalia.
The donation of 500,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccines arrived at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu on December 6.
Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, the Minister of Health, commended China for the donation.
The health minister said that the new vaccines would help the East African nation to vaccinate more people thus curbing the spread of the disease.
Last week, President Xi Jinping said that his country would donate one billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to African countries.
Currently, Somalia’s vaccination rates are much lower than other countries on the continent.
