Dai Bing, the Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, said that political stability in the East African nation is crucial to women’s participation in politics.
Bing said this on September 28.
The Chinese envoy was addressing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Somalia.
Bing called upon the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to work closely with other stakeholders to protect women’s rights and interests in the Horn of African nation.
“Furthermore, we need to work with the Somali government to combat sexual and gender-based violence against women in Somalia,” Bing said.
“Somali women need to have a much stronger voice in politics, economy, and social life,” the Chinese envoy at the UN stated.
