Civilian Killed as Police Clash with Al-Shabaab Fighters in Mandera County

A civilian was killed as Kenya Police Service (KPS) officers clashed with Al-Shabaab extremists in Mandera County.

On Saturday, security sources in Kenya confirmed the incident to the media.

In their report, the security sources said that Kenyan officers clashed with Al-Shabaab extremists on January 15.

According to them, the clash occurred in Wako Dadacha in Banisa, Mandera County.

Several eyewitnesses stated that the clashes last close to four hours.

Ali Roba, the Governor of Mandera County, told the media that police officers successfully drove the militants away.

The clash comes at a time when Governor Roba complained about the growing influence of the extremists in his county.

He called for assistance from security agencies in Kenya and the entire Horn of Africa region.

While providing the latest updates, Governor Rob also said that one other civilian was injured in the head and taken to hospital for treatment.
