Climate Crisis Will Destroy 35,000 Hectares of Forest Every Year in Somalia

The ongoing climate crisis in Somalia will destroy more than 35,000 hectares of forest annually.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) made this startling revelation on Friday this week.

The UNDP report also mentions the 7.8 million people in Somalia that the crisis will affect.

To this end, UNDP is prepared to work closely with other organizations to empower communities in the country to protect the environment.

Some of the organizations that are ready to work with Somalia to achieve this include the European Union (EU), GEF, and GCF.

Countries such as Japan, Sweden, and Norway will cooperate with UNDP to achieve this goal too.

They will all work together to foster clean energy while building resilience to climate change.
