A commercial vessel has sunk near Bosaso Port. Reports indicate that the ship sunk after failing to dock at the port.
A spokesperson for the company that owns the consignment aboard the ship confirmed that the ship has run aground and authorities are currently trying to rescue it.
The spokesperson, Ismail Hussein, confirmed that the vessel was carrying over six tons of cement imported from the Gulf when it encountered problems near the port of Bosaso.
Bosaso Port has experienced a similar incident. Two years ago, a different vessel transporting 15 tons of cargo sunk near the port.
A Dubai-based firm known as P&O Ports manages the port. It received a 30-year concession after winning the tender worth $336 million to develop and manage Bosaso Port.
