A committee has been appointed to investigate the death of the former Prime Minister of Somalia, Professor Ali Khalif Galaydh.
Professor Galaydh died in Jigjiga, the administrative capital of the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia, on Thursday October 8.
President Mustafe Mohamed Omar Agjar appointed the committee a few hours after the death of the former premier had been confirmed.
The 79-year old Professor Galaydh served as the Prime Minister of Somalia from October 8, 2000 to October 28, 2001.
He is one of the few Somali leaders in the region who enjoys an almost universal popularity in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Somaliland.
Several top Somali leaders and politicians have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
