United States Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has congratulated the newly-elected President of Somalia.
Omar sent her congratulatory message to Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who won the presidential elections held on Sunday, May 15.
Mohamud emerged victorious after flooring incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo in the third round.
He garnered 214 votes compared to Farmaajo’s 110.
The US Congresswoman of Somali descent also commended the people of Somalia for the elections.
She now calls upon all Somalis to work together from the decades of instability.
